Parcel gilt blue and clear overlay glass eight-light chandelier

This wonderfully ornate chandelier is crafted from parcel gilt blue overlay glass. The central column of the chandelier features four tiers of flared bowls, each profusely parcel gilt and finished with a dancetté edge. The lowest flared bowl supports the springing of eight clear glass light branches, each S-scrolled branch terminating in an ornate parcel gilt blue candleholder and drip pan. The stem also supports the springing of two tiers of purely ornamental glass scrolls, which in their tightly wound form resemble floral stamens. The quality of the craftsmanship throughout is superb: the glass is deftly formed, the blue overlay vibrant and lustrous, and the tooled parcel gilding especially delicate.
