Consistings of a central clock, accompanied on either side by a pair of flanking vases, this superb set was made in France in the late nineteenth century, and showcases a variety of exquisite decorative crafts and techniques.
The clock, with a circular porcelain dial which is painted with cherubs in flight, holds a hanging pendulum, and it is set in a case with painted porcelain and glass panels on the side. Above, it features a twin-handled urn, surmounted and painted with a globe that displays navigational instruments, in turn decorated by three pairs of finials each cast as a basket of flowers.
The decorative elements are made from champlevé enamel and superbly cast gilt-bronze elements. The pair of vases to either side are similarly decorated to the central clock. The porcelain bears the signature, 'Lefranc.'
