Description

This precious item is a naturalistic model by the celebrated English jewellers Asprey. The model depicts a pair of butterflies perched atop a leafy spray above a rocky outcrop. Each butterfly is crafted from gold with plique-à-jour enamel wings—one butterfly with brown tinted enamel, and the other with blue. The brown winged butterfly has a body studded with diamonds, while the blue winged one is of emeralds. The leafy spray upon which the butterflies perch is of gold, and the rocky outcrop is a natural specimen of amethyst. The base, of yellow and brown agate, resembles the cut profile of a tree trunk.

The model is contained and secured within a fitted case that is marked to the inside with an award label (see Provenance below).
