The egg-shaped object is decorated to the exterior with green enamel which has been mounted with silver around the base, rim and top in a Classical geometric pattern. The silver has been mounted with precious stones, pearls and rose diamonds. The egg is hinged and opens to reveal a silver gilt interior showing a swan in a basket.
