Description

This beautiful antique piece is a Louis XV period tapestry panel by the historic tapestry manufactury of Beauvais in North France.

Made during the mid eighteenth century, c.1760, the large panel surface features a beautifully woven, highly decorative floral design with a bouquet tied by a blue ribbon to the lower centre. Floral blossoms extend into all four corners of the panel in an intricate, meitculously hand woven design, with much of the original green, red, and blue tones of the tapestry intact.

The panel is also noteworthy for being housed in its original giltwood frame, which is adorned with scrolling acanthus motifs in high relief, accentuating the aesthetic qualities of the panel in the centre.
