This remarkable mantel clock is crafted from ormolu and champlevé enamel in the charming Renaissance Revival style.
The clock is raised on a stepped ormolu plinth inset with cells of champlevé enamel. The clock case above the plinth is of rectangular form with a break arch top. The case is flanked by four ormolu columns with shaped shafts and bulbous lower sections, the two front columns accompanied by ormolu cherubim; seated atop the case, legs dangling between the break arch, is another cherub, complementing the duo below. The top of the case is surmounted by a cylindrical, dome-topped element, likewise adorned with champlevé enamel, which culminates in an ornate, pointed finial.
The body of the clock is profusely adorned with champlevé enamel: geometrical, floral, and arabesque forms, wrought from vitreous enamel inset into cells within the ormolu.
