Description

This dinner service is decorated in the antique Flora Danica style, which was a botanical dictionary commissioned in 1761 by the Danish King Frederik V. It took over 120 years to complete, and consisting of accurate representations of thousands of wild Danish flowers. The first banquet service made in this style consisted of a monumental 1802 pieces, and was a gift for Empress Catherine II of Russia.

This fine porcelain set is smaller, comprising 26 perfectly formed pieces, including a large, oval serving dish, a sauceboat and 24 plates. All pieces are decorated individually with different fish, and bordered with beaded gilt rims. All pieces are marked and titled to the underside with factory marks and individual numerals and letters.
