This wonderful translucent glass Easter egg is decorated in pink and blue enamels with floral bouquets. The base is affixed with a metal button representing the family owners for whom it was made, while the reverse features, in relief, the monogram ‘XB’ for 'Christos Vokrese'.
This kind of glass egg is known to have been a very personal religious Easter item at the beginning of the twentieth century and varied in motif and design according to personal taste. Traditionally, such eggs would hang on the sides of icons during the Easter period to celebrate the resurrection of Christ.
