Description

A samovar is a vessel traditionally used to heat and boil water and is associated with Russia. The present model takes the form of a samovar and creatively turns it into an objet d’art. The diminutive model is of traditional shape, the body wrought from silver-gilt. Most of the body of the samovar is profusely adorned with beautiful champlevé enamel designs, the motifs distinctly Russian in form and style. The colour palette of the enamels is bright and vibrant, with blues, reds, and greens predominating against a cream ground. The handles and finials are of ivorine.

The silver is marked ‘84’, designating 87.5% silver purity.
