Known as ‘nested’ or ‘nesting’ table sets, such items are composed of a collection of tables which are of graduated size. These can be stacked together, each being slotted within the legs of the one slightly larger. The items are designed to be easily packed away and taken out for occasional use.
Each table stands on four straight legs which are set on outward-curved feet. The legs of the tables are linked by square stretchers—the smallest table’s stretcher is closed, while the larger tables’ stretchers are open at their fronts, enabling them to be slotted into one another. The tables support rectangular tops, featuring friezes which are decorated with raised geometric motifs. The tops are edged with raised rectangular borders.
