The brackets have been exquisitely modelled from porcelain, and delicately painted by hand. They are designed to look like satyrs, who are mischievous male woodland gods in classical mythology. They companied the fertility god Pan, and Dionysus, the god of wine and ecstasy. These satyrs are depicted with nude human upper bodies and entwined furry grey goat-like legs. They have grey hair and beards, and puckish grins on their faces. The satyrs raise both of their arms to hold fruit swags above their heads.
These satyrs are set against scrolled acanthus leaf forms, which are outlined with light pink and turquoise paint. The tops of the brackets are decorated with yellow and navy fluting, and their upper edges are articulated by gilt bands.
