The set comprises sixty-three gaming counters, all crafted in mother-of pearl in rectangular, circular, or oval shapes. There are thirty-nine rectangular counters, ten oval counters, and fourteen circular counters. The obverse of each counter is engraved with the initials EW, flanked by flowers in a formal border. The reverse is decorated with a panel of diaper trellis. The counters are from the Qing dynasty, and were made for the export market.
