Each octagonal plate in the set is centred with a circular roundel painted in grisaille with an image of a noteworthy American residence: whether the home of a former president or general, or the house of a literary figure. The grisaille roundel of each plate is encompassed by a gilt and cobalt blue border, while the edge of each is finished in the Art Deco manner with bands of gilt and cobalt blue, as well as pale blue painted droplets.

Each plate is signed and dated to the reverse ‘Isabel Marshall / 1927’ and stamped with the Wedgwood amphora mark above ‘Wedgwood / Made in England’, as well as a reference number in red pigment.
