Description

This superb set of twelve knife rests were designed for Christofle’s “Gallia” line by the celebrated Swiss Cubist sculptor Edouard Marcel Sandoz, who lived from 1881 to 1971. The knife rests are silver plated, and the set is comprised of a peacock, a swan, a dove, a bear, a lion, a pelican, a hare, a greyhound, a pig, a dog, a cat, and a swordfish. The animals are presented in a distinctive style that hints at both Cubism and the Art Deco.

Each knife rest is stamped 'Gallia' and features the Christofle plate mark.
