The centrepiece features a wide porcelain bowl which is set on a splayed ormolu (gilt bronze) foot. This foot is decorated with pierced fluting, scrolls, stylised foliage, cartouches, and fruit swags.
Rococo style paintings in gilt oval frames decorate the porcelain bowl. The front painting depicts three beautiful young women in 18th-Century dress, seated together in an outdoor setting. The ladies are accompanied by a lamb, which one woman drapes in ribbons. This image is set in a gilt frame which is decorated with latticework, stylised scrolled foliate and floral motifs. The reverse of the bowl is painted with a colourful bouquet of flowers, against a white ground. The painting is contained within a leafy gilt frame. These decorations are offset against a deep ‘bleu lapis’ (navy) ground.
The bowl is mounted with two long ormolu handles which terminate in scrolls. These are decorated with stylised foliage, rosettes, and wreaths. The rim of the bowl is edged with an ormolu beaded band. The white interior of the bowl is finely painted with colourful flowers.
