Description

This fine Sheffield silver-plate centrepiece suite is comprised of a three-part mirrored surtout de table, an epergne centrepiece, and a pair of bowls. The silver-plate throughout is moulded in an elegant, foliate manner, with grasping acanthus leaves and other vegetal motifs predominating. The epergne features a pierced silver-plate foliate body, surmounted by a larger cut glass bowl that is surrounded by a lower tier of three bowls raised on S-scroll branches. The pair of bowls are similarly crafted, while the surtout is raised on paw feet.

The silver-plate is stamped 'Sheffield' and marked for John Turton & Co.
