The dinner set was made by Joseph Rodgers & Sons, the Sheffield firm appointed as the official cutlers of the British Royal Family for most of the 19th Century. The cutlery set was made for eighteen people and comes housed in a mahogany canteen with five sliding drawers enclosed within panelled doors. The canteen is set on two front support legs on a square base with a carved balcony. Each piece of cutlery is styled in a bright cut old English pattern, with an ivory handle, and is stamped with the initial 'D'. The dessert knives and forks come with handles modelled from mother of pearl.
