The present kovsch is of conventional form, with a curved silver handle profusely decorated with polychrome cloisonné enamel flowers, yellow beads, and a central oval cartouche filled with a symmetrical floral pattern, all above a dappled silver ground. The handle is affixed to a curved nephrite body with three large red enamel beads. The nephrite body, which is superbly formed from a single piece of the hardstone, is raised on four ball feet further embellished with red and white enamel beads.
The underside of the silver handle is marked ‘I.P.’ for the maker and ‘84’, designating 87.5% silver purity.
