Description

This fine piece, fully hallmarked with the makers mark 'Ye.K' in Cyrillic, is made in silver-gilt and cloisonné enamel, (the enamel halo is also further marked), and is contained in a glazed oak shadowbox kiot frame, with a gilt and decoratively carved liner. Made in Moscow in 1892, it depicts Christ holding the Bible open in his left hand, and holding his right hand up in a gesture of blessing. A beautiful blue and characteristically Russian halo sits behind Christ's head. Christ is elegantly depicted, and the silver-gilt and cloisonne enamel craftsmanship is worked with fine artistry and skill.
