This fine Chinese porcelain vase is of distinctive and traditional form and features a surface delicately painted with scenes drawn from traditional Chinese courtly life.
This fine Canton style famille rose porcelain vase is ‘mallet shaped’, having a long, ovoid or baluster body with a waisted neck and a flared, or lobed, rim. The vase features twin foo dog polychrome handles mounted to the neck. The white-ground body of the vase is profusely decorated, featuring abundant flowers and foliage around rectangular panels containing depictions of figural court scenes. The colour palette is rich and busy: pinks and greens predominate, as is expected with famille rose porcelain, with moments of yellow and blue contrasting pleasingly.
