Description

This nature-inspired vessel titled 'Solas Ómra I’ is hand-crafted by Kathleen Walsh - a woodworking artist based in Ireland. Utilising traditional woodturning and resin casting techniques, Walsh’s practice focuses on the creation of wood and resin vessels. Her pieces have been exhibited in prestigious national and international locations and form part of many collections.

The base of the vessel is turned from natural edge oak, the artist often using storm fallen trees. The various knots and grains join to create an interesting design, highlighting the beauty of nature. The crafting process employed by Walsh further accentuates nature’s creations. The oak section joins with the polychrome resins used to form the upper part of the vessel, the seamless combination of the two materials being a testament to the artist’s superb skills.

Amber-coloured resin, with its translucent properties, softens the vessel and looks particularly mesmerising when light shines through. Above it is a blend of black and copper resin, the colouration matching the edge of the oak base.

The underside bears Walsh’s logo.

Of exceptional quality, this superb vessel would be a magnificent home décor piece.
