Post-Impressionist Art

The post-Impressionist movement began in late 19th Century France and lasted until the outbreak of the First World War in 1914. There is no one singular post-Impressionist style. Instead the term denotes a wide range of distinctive styles and artists, who were united by their desire to reject the Impressionists’ observed depictions of the world, and instead to delve deeper into their personal emotions and connect with the viewer on a more personal, meaningful and real level.
