Syrian Antiques

Stretching across the eighteenth and nineteenth century, our selection of Syrian antiques journeys through periods and eras of this country. Beginning from the Mamluk Revival in the mid-19th century, our antiques explore this period of intense artistic inspiration as Syria discovered its indigenous legacy. This culminated in a resurgence of a nationalistic style, employing a Classical vocabulary in the making of new pieces.

Our Syrian Mamluk vases are part of this era, an example of the rich and intricate application of silver and copper inlay with astounding metal work. It is not only metal work, however, that exemplifies Syrian craft. The Mayfair Gallery selection of woodwork offers an insight into the intricate application of marquetry, including traditional Islamic design and Syrian engraving.

You can explore this further in our Mayfair Gallery collection of Syrian antiques below.
