Description

Each ebonised wood table in this duo features a circular top raised above a shaped central column, the column supported by a curved-leg tripod base. The shorter of the two tables features a richly detailed tabletop: the top is decorated with a painted floral bouquet accented with inlaid mother of pearl, the entire composition encompassed by a mother of pearl circular band. The remainder of the tabletop is parcel gilt with painted geometrical decoration, these painted motifs also present on the stem and legs below. The taller table features a painted tabletop, likewise adorned with painted flowers—though the flowers on this table form a circular garland set above red painted ground. Both tables are complementary in form and scheme of decoration.

Taller table: Height 71cm, diameter 48.5cm
Shorter table: Height 64cm, diameter 57cm
