This exceptionally rare piece is a Judaica silver-inlaid antique tray with 12-fold engraving and decoration, made in Jerusalem at the turn of the century.
Featuring meticulous and intricate decoration in the form of superb copper and silver-inlay, this remarkable piece is a very rare Judaica tray made around the turn of the twentieth century.
Crafted in Jerusalem, it features a twelve-fold repeating decoration around the centre of the work, in which a large mehorah is depicted within a ring. The star of David features four times around this central circle, and the outer rim is adorned with Hebrew inscriptions. The metalwork consists of both inlay and engraving, and images of symbols such as the ten commandments and the Dome of the rock. A remarkable piece both for its artistry and its religious and historic significance, it is a fine item of Jewish interest.
