Description

This unusual object, made in the late 19th Century, is finely modelled as a crab with a shell-form cover, with four legs on each side and two pincers to the front. This type of quirky antique object would have been very popular when it was made in Victorian England. It is made entirely from brass and, when it was made, there would have been a glass or porcelain insert for the ink, which is now missing.

This outlandish piece would make a unique gift to someone with an appreciation of the bizarre and quirkier artworks made during the Victorian era.
