This early Victorian period side cabinet features an undulating serpentine profile and a variety of ormolu and painted porcelain mounts. The cabinet is set to the front centre with a large curved door, which opens to reveal a one-shelf cabinet, the wooden surface of the door ornamented with an elaborate geometrical marquetry design scheme. The door is mounted to the centre with a porcelain plaque, delicately painted with flowers in the style of Sèvres, the plaque encompassed by a highly ornate pierced ormolu foliate frame. Either side of this central door is a glazed door, revealing a pair of two-shelf vitrine cabinets, both doors featuring an S-form profile in keeping with the serpentine form of the body.
Above and below the doors, the upper and lower registers of the face of the cabinet are detailed with exquisite marquetry inlays and mounted with finely cast ormolu mounts, while the upper register includes three further mounted porcelain plaques, each painted with delicate floral bouquets. The top of the cabinet is likewise veneered with a variety of geometrical marquetry inlays.
