Description

This superb piece is an Orientalist sculpture by the famous Viennese bronze artist Franz Xaver Bergman. Executed in cold-painted bronze, it is somewhat small for what it depicts, yet more than compensates by its outstanding level of detail and by the exceptional quality of its execution.

It consists of an Orientalist scene, depicting two Arabs and camels in a ruins landscape. A palm tree reaches over and gives the figures shade. The figure in front rides mounted, while the other walks slowly alongside his camel, which is laden with equipment and supplies. The excellent piece is signed in various places with a 'B' inside a vase and with foundry and inventory marks.
