Description

Crafted by Royal Worcester porcelain, a leading English firm and one of the oldest still in production, these delightful porcelain pieces are a set of eight plates, united by a charming and whimsical ichthyological (from the Greek 'ichthus' for 'fish') theme.

The fish, all in pairs, are depicted against similar but varied backdrops, including brooks, shallow pools, and ponds, with a similar colour palette that unites them in tone and in subject, making a fine collector's set for those with a penchant for English porcelain.

Painted by Harry Ayrton (English, 1905-1976), they bear blue-printed marks, titles, and the pattern number 'Z565' to the reverse.
