The snuff box is of 18 carat gold made in rectangular shape in France. The enameled case is finely decorated with acanthus leaves and scrolling foliage. An Italian micromosaic plaque is inset to the top of the hinged cover, depicting a scene of figures and animals amongst Roman ruins.
