This grand, fine, tall, and pure white alabaster pedestal is carved in Neoclassical form, and was made in France in the late nineteenth century.
With a square table surface on which to mount the decorative object of choice, the pedestal consists of a tall, tapering and spiralling column stem, mounted on a ridged, bulb base, with simple bead frieze rings delineating the separate sections, with a mix of concentric circular and polygon shaped steps both to the base and beneath the upper surface.
An at first unassuming yet exceptional design, full of Neoclassical formality and order, yet pleasing on the eye, it will make a grand addition to the right interior, or exterior, setting, giving it a welcome touch of antique grandeur.
