Antique French ormolu five-light chandelier

This unusual chandelier is crafted from ormolu in an ornate style. The body of the chandelier is modelled as a five-pointed cushion, with a candle holder set at the end of each point. Each candle holder features a tassel drop finial, a foliate bobèche, and a single candle socket. The underside of the body of the chandelier is richly moulded with roundels, vines of leaves, and other foliate forms; the underside is centred with an ornate drop finial. The body of the chandelier is supported by a tapering shaft, which is likewise moulded with profuse foliate motifs, including acanthus leaves and anthemia.
