    Description

    The cameo is carved in a semi-precious stone, depicting the Greek poet Sappho and a winged cupid with an arrow. The cameo is signed by the sculptor and medallist Bonfiglio Zaccagnini (Italian, 1793-1867). The rectangular parcel-gilt frame is surmounted with a bow.
