The ormolu jardinière is filled with numerous, colourful hardstone fruits.
Several motifs cover the body of the jardinière, such as foliate banding and flowers. Two matching handles are attached on either side, cast in the shape of curling acanthus leaves. A similar motif predominates the design of the four legs on which the piece stands. The planter includes a removable metal liner which can be filled with a selection of one’s favourite plants.
Inside the jardinière, a collection of fruits is displayed. Grapes, pears, and apples among others are superbly carved from polychrome hardstones. The expert craftsmanship in addition to the beautiful natural colouring of the stones make it seem as if the fruit are real.
The jardinière and selection of fruits can be displayed together to create an eye-catching centrepiece or separately decorating various parts of one’s interior.
