This fine and large desk is made of kingwood, and mounted with ormolu in the Rococo style, which was popular during the reign of King Louis XV and enjoyed a revival during the 19th Century.
The desk is of rectangular shape, and features a burgundy, leather-topped writing surface. The desk top is mounted all around the edges with ormolu, and features female Classical masks mounted to all four corners below the top. The front of the desk features three drawers: one shallow, central drawer, and two larger flanking drawers, each with ormolu rims, handles and key holes. The desk is set upon four, elegantly curved cabriole legs which terminate in ormolu hoof feet.
