This magnificent, highly unusual and large glass and ormolu centrepiece suite was crafted by Baccarat, the renowned French firm of glass makers. Baccarat’s history goes back to 1764 when by the Royal Decree of King Louis XV the firm was established. Since then, it has continuously crafted pieces for an elite clientele, whilst also winning many awards at numerous international exhibitions.
The centrepiece bowl as well as the two flanking cornucopias are crafted from red glass. Their glass bodies are adorned with petal rims adding a delicate yet sophisticated detail. Superbly framing the unusual red glass pieces are cast ormolu mounts. These include upright handles in the shape of a winged mythical creature. The shaping of the two flanking vases also adds to the desirability of the suite as in classical antiquity cornucopia (also known as the horn of plenty) symbolised abundance.
The shaped plinths include scrolling decoration and stand on round bases, each supported by four feet. This is adorned with further scrolling motifs as well as female masks.
The ormolu bears a rubbed ‘Baccarat’ mark within a cartouche.
Vibrantly coloured and of an atypical design, this magnificent large centrepiece suite is guaranteed to be an attention-grabbing addition to one’s interior space.
