Antique Russian cast iron figure of a Cossack on horseback

This fine sculpture is crafted from cast iron and is finished with a rich and variegated patina. The sculpture depicts a Cossack on horseback. The horse stands, front legs side by side and rear astride, atop an integral plinth-form base finished with a naturalistic top surface. The Cossack, set within the deep folds of his over coat, lights a pipe to smoke. The piece is naturalistically cast and is finished with great finesse and detail.

The piece is stamped to the base with a signature and foundry mark.
