This superb Persian carpet is a fine example of the type produced in Isfahan. The carpet features a blue field woven in shades of beige with a profuse arrangement of arabesques and geometrical floral forms. The central blue field is encompassed by a beige border, which features—complementarily—a rinceau-like procession of scrolling blue foliate forms. The ends of the carpet are tasselled.
