Hand-made by Elodie Blanchard, this mixed-media panel is bursting with various colours and depictions of the natural world. ‘Bouquet 20’ comes from Blanchard’s ‘Bouquet’ series in which she explores how materials once considered rubbish can be turned into beautiful and desirable works of art.
Repurposed scraps of textiles, snack packaging, plastic bags and mylar balloons have been used to create this one-of-a-kind artwork. Blanchard, who is an artist based in New York, through the careful choice of materials and their arrangement created a floral composition. Large and small flowers are placed among variously coloured green foliage. Mylar balloons are used to create shimmering plants adding a variety of textures to the final piece.
The piece includes three-dimensional parts, made up of stuffed fabric, such as the stigmas of the flowers. The panel is framed in an elegant wooden frame and mounted on a cream base.
Elodie Blanchard’s work has been displayed in several galleries, public spaces and institutions in the USA and the UK. Through her work, Blanchard aims to change the perception towards used materials and transform them into rare and unique artworks such as the magnificent wall hanging in Mayfair Gallery’s collection.
