Carved hardstone model of a hummingbird in ruby and silver gilt

Exquisitely carved from ruby, with wings outspread and a beak applied with silver gilt, this beautiful bird model comes mounted on a specimen mineral quartz base and set in a custom-fitted case. The lively and beautiful qualities of the bird are rendered with impeccable skill in a suitable choice of precious materials to create a superb decorative piece.

The body of the bird, hewn in the entirety of its form from ruby, is magnificently lined and carved with the details of its wings and feathers.  Exceptionally delicate and ornate, its small beady silver eyes and gilt beak create a wonderful effect, as does the combination with the mineral base upon which it is suspended with slender gilt beams.
