This beautiful Chinese pierced hardwood screen features a porcelain plaque painted with delicate portrayals of flying swallows and flowers in bright bloom.
This Chinese screen is crafted from Chinese hardwood (Hongmu) and a painted porcelain plaque. The plaque is painted with a traditional Chinese portrayal of swallows flying above a crop of rock topped with flowers and leaves—all painted in beautiful pastel shades within black borders—and is held within an ornate pierced hardwood frame. The frame is supported by a lower tier, likewise crafted from pierced hardwood, which is raised by two twin scrolled feet.
The porcelain plaque is signed with a red signature cartouche and inscribed with black Chinese script.
