The ebonised wood vitrine features a tall rectangular body which stands on four bun feet. The body of the vitrine is glazed and contains three shelves, two of which are glass. The vitrine’s wooden frame is covered with Viennese enamel plaques, which have been finely painted with Classical scenes depicting figures in landscapes. These plaques are interspersed with floral ormolu (gilt bronze) mounts. The body of the vitrine is flanked by two Corinthian columns which are decorated with plaques and topped by ormolu capitals. The vitrine features an arched top, with a balustrade running behind it. It is surmounted by a clock, at the centre of which is a circular white enamel dial with black Roman Numerals. Like the vitrine, the clock is adorned with painted enamel plaques and decorative ormolu mounts.
