Description

The armrests of this armchair lead to ormolu motifs in the form of swans, the favourite animal of Josephine Bonaparte, and typical of the Empire style. Forming the front two paw foot legs, these cast gilt bronze swans are mounted onto the padded wooden armrests and frame the chair, which comes with a cushion and cream-coloured velvet upholstery and braiding. The top rail of the chair, as well as the front of the skirting below the seat are also mounted with ormolu decorative motifs.
