The circular table, or guéridon, is supported on three monopodia supports, which stand on an ormolu (gilt bronze) triform base, with a circular gemstone centre. This pink, purple, red and black stone base is edged with ormolu foliate patterns.
Each monopodium takes the form of an ormolu lion, with outstretched wings, a gemstone breast plate and a foliate body, carried on a single leg and large paw foot. These legs are linked by a triangular ormolu stretcher, with a circular gemstone disc at its centre.
The lions support the large circular table top, the sides of which are decorated with ormolu foliate motifs and rosettes, against a dark ground. The table top is veneered in a variety of coloured stones, including pink-red, purple, orange and blue-black. These have been arranged so that the colours radiate outwards from a central point.
This guéridon is a wonderful piece of luxury furniture, which will look beautiful placed in the living room, library, or study of a well-decorated house.
