Enamel - Cloisonné

Cloisonné enamel refers to a technique whereby thin wires are applied to a surface, forming different sections into which enamel is applied.

Cloisonné enamel is particularly prevalent on delicate decorative items of Russian origin, many of which are crafted by, or in the style of, the famous Russian jeweller, Karl Fabergé. Similarly, antique Japanese and Chinese vases often exhibit delicate cloisonné enamel work, which beautifully demonstrates the highly skilled work of the craftsmen responsible.
