Description

Made as a souvenir of the Tour of Pakistan by the Commonwealth Team in 1950, this unique piece is a fascinating engraved brass presentation tray in the Benares brass style. With the Governor's team listed down one side and the Commonwealth team on the other, it features a series of four images of the match venue in Lucknow in the quadrants of the main body, and is decorated with engraved peacocks and floral motifs in the space inbetween. It is stamped for 'Prakashware House, Moradabad,' and thus comes from the city also known as 'Pital Nagri,' famous for its brass crafts industry. It will be of great interest to sports collectors and those with a passion for pieces that commemorate historic sporting events.
