Description

With the capital and mount cast in beautiful radiant gilt-bronze, the rest of the piece in rich rouge griotte marble, this beautiful pedestal is crafted to imitate a Classical Corinthian column, in order to create a display stand which is a work of art in its own right.

Made in France in the nineteenth century, the combination of materials is particularly sumptuous and visually pleasing. The rich tone of the marble reflects off the immaculate gilt surfaces around the column capital and base, giving the gold a warm rich red glow, accentuating the beautiful sculpture qualities of the pedestal's embellishments.

The column tapers ever so slightly, becoming narrower at the top, which also serves to give it a subtle curvature, in contrast with the precise square form of the base and display surface on top. Highly grand and ornate, it serves as a fine display piece or mount for another decorative work, its opulence and fine style marking it out as a work of note.
