French Neoclassical style giltwood six-light chandelier

This superb chandelier is crafted from carved giltwood in the Neoclassical style. The chandelier features a shaped baluster form stem: the bottom portion of the stem features a drum carved in alto-relievo with splayed acanthus leaves and rosettes, while the upper section of the stem features a foliate carved knop and an overhanging dome-like cap. The drum of the chandelier issues six light branches, with each C-scroll branch carved with grasping acanthus leaves and adorned with a foliate scroll centred with a carved rosette. Each branch terminates in a single candle holder above a carved bobèche. The chandelier is supported from a carved ceiling mount.
