French Neoclassical style ormolu mounted marquetry commode

This fine commode is crafted from hardwood mounted with ormolu and adorned with marquetry. The shaped body of the commode features three drawers: one frieze drawer with two deeper drawers below. The frieze drawer is adorned with marquetry drapery motifs in a pattern that continues around both of the curved sides, with the front and sides delineated by ornate ormolu brackets. The larger drawers below are decorated with marquetry inlays of a ribbon-tied floral garland, and each drawer is mounted with an ormolu escutcheon. The commode is surmounted by a veined grey marble plateau, and is raised by four tapering cylinder legs, each leg terminating in an ormolu sabot.
