The wall mirror features a rectangular body with an arched top and shaped crown. The mirror’s white porcelain frame is parcel gilt and elaborately decorated with colourful painted sculptural motifs. These include stylised turquoise and light pink foliage, and richly coloured flowers with green leaves. Yellow canary birds and pink semi-nude cherubs decorate the sides and corners of the mirror’s frame. The mirror is surmounted by a multicoloured flower bouquet.
This mirror was crafted by the famous Meissen porcelain factory. The factory was established in 1710, making it the first producer of hard-paste porcelain in Europe. The company was highly regarded and enjoyed the patronage of European royalty and nobility.
